Summer Youth Employment and Training Program (SYETP) incorporates paid work experience and educational enhancement. Some training is work-based learning--simulating the conduct of a business, other activities are connected to career pathways in place at high schools or individual placements in non-profit agencies and businesses dependent on individual student plan. Students deficient in required high school reading, math, and writing proficiency work on these skills as a part of enrollment. High school credit may be obtained for some training activities.

School year education programs offered are Career Development and Rural Enterpreneurship for Action Learning (REAL). These two courses are offered at selected high schools in the Bakersfield area.

Career Resource Division sponsors a number of adult training programs. Contact Kern High School District, Career Resource Division at 661-322-7492 for information on adult training.
